3PL Slowdown Felt Across the World, Almost
According to the 2009 14th Annual Third-Party Logistics Study, released by Capgemini Consulting and the Georgia Institute of Technology, third-party logistics providers (3PLs) in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America are anticipating lower growth in 2010, much like their counterparts in the US. China, on the other hand, is reporting that total revenue from the country's largest logistics industries grew 20% year-over-year in the first nine months of 2009, and growth is expected to continue in 2010. The news is not all bad for Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America -- shippers in the region spend a higher percentage of logistics budgets on outsourced logistics than do North American shippers, which means 3PLs in all three regions can expect to capture a larger share of overall spending.
