Supply Chain Disruption on the Rise

A new research report by the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and Zurich Insurance says manufacturers have seen a 58% increase in disruptions to their supply chains. Companies are citing the recession, swine flu, IT, and telecom issues as leading causes for disruption. Lyndon Bird, International and Technical Director at the BCI, said, “We’re now seeing the downside of years of outsourcing, extended supply chains and focus on core competency; organisations are now much more vulnerable to supply chain disruption than in the past."
